Top Ten Wines under $10

Red

Col des Vents Corbieres 2005  $8.99: Medium-bodied, with plenty of red plum and pepper flavors. The spicy finish features some herbal notes.   Great with an array of cheeses, or just sitting around with that special someone.

Finca Las Moras Malbec 2007 $7.99:  The desert climate produces a soft, full bodied wine with a ripe red berries and plum flavors with an elegant touch of smoke and vanilla from its contact with wood.  The finish is very smooth and long.

Ken Forrester Petit Pinotage 2006 $8.99 Unwooded, huge dollops of ripe berry fruit on the nose, inky red/black colour with some brightness. Soft and rich on the palate, with a delicioius smoky fruit concentration.  Fantastic with BBQ!!

Garnacha de Fuego 2005 $8.49:  Bright red. Smoky cherry and dark berry aromas are complemented by candied licorice, dark chocolate and zesty minerality.  Silky and lively, with impressively complex cherry and dark berry flavors joined by an exotic floral pastille quality on the finish. This wine is a steal!!  (Enjoli’s Favorite!!!)

White

Broadbent Vinho Verde $9.99:  Broadbent Vinho Verde is the only Vinho Verde imported on a refrigerated container. The result is the freshest tasting Vinho Verde on the market. Thrillingly bright and slap-happy tart, it goes down in gulps, not sips. The world’s greatest pairing for a Caesar salad.

Aresti Chardonnay 2006 $8.99:  Bright yellow colour with intense and brilliant green hues. The bouquet displays creamy, vanilla aromas that compliment the citrus and pear notes. On the palate the wine is creamy, soft and sweet with excellent balance. A very pleasant, refreshing and approachable wine.

Conquista Torrontes 2007 $6.99:  This Argentinian wine expresses refreshing tropical fruit, honey, and melon with a delightful finish. Torrontes pairs well with salads, grilled chicken, and Asian cuisine.

Las Brisas 2007 $9.99:  Greenish straw. Vibrant, mineral-accented citrus and orchard fruit scents pack a serious punch, with a complex array of pungent herbs adding complexity. Fresh, sharply focused lime and grapefruit flavors carry impressively on the spicy finish.  Always a favorite!!

New Age White Wine $8.99:  Ablend of Sauvignon Blanc and Malvasia. With low alcohol (less than 10 percent) and flavors of mango and melon, sipping this frizzante (lightly sparkling) wine transports you to an exotic beachside location. With its bold red and black label showcasing a Picasso-like painting of a woman on the back that is only visible when you peek at it through the bottle.  Try this refreshing white with some fresh fruit!!

Domaine Houchart Cotes du Provence Rose 2007 $9.99:  This pink wine opens with a nice refreshing light berry bouquet. On the palate, the wine has terrific strawberry like fruit flavors. This medium bodied Rosé wine was nicely balanced, very easy to drink, and a touch tart. The finish was dry and nicely prolonged.  Perfect for the newly spring weather!!

Cabernet Sauvignon Aconcagua, Porta Winery Reserve, Chile 2005

Now Featuring
Viña Porta Wines - $10.99 / bttl.

Viña Porta began in 1954 when the Gutiérrez-Porta family arrived in Chile from Spain and settled in the Alto Cachapoal Valley, south of the historic city of Rancagua.

The family originally sold its wine to the traditional Chilean wineries, but in 1991 they decided to launch their own line of wines under the name, “Casa Porta,” thereby becoming one of Chile’s first boutique wineries. In 1997 Viñedos y Bodegas Córpora SA acquired Porta. Under new administration, Porta developed a new orientation based on the concept of “terroir” and focused on the production of fine wines for demanding consumers.

Today, Viña Porta’s plantations are strategically located in Chile’s most important wine regions: Aconcagua, Maipo, Alto Cachapoal, Colchagua, and Bío-Bío. Porta’s vineyards are planted to varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Carménère, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir, each planted in its proper terroir under the supervision of highly qualified winegrowers.

Merlot 2005:  Deep red in color, with intense, complex aromas of red and black fruit, cassis, and chocolate. Full-bodied and silky-smooth, with good structure, plenty of fruit, and soft, well-rounded tannins. Ends nicely with a long finish.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2005: Bright, clean ruby-red in color. The fine, interesting aroma profile includes red and black fruits, mint, and spices. Delicate, fruity, and elegant on the palate with good structure and nice ripe tannins. This wine is recommended with cheeses, pastas, and red meats

Pinot Noir 2007:  Deep black-cherry red in color with intriguing aromas of rose petals, raspberries, baked cherries, and ripe strawberries. A classic Pinot Noir with mineral notes and a full-bodied, silky texture, rounded out by smooth tannins.
